Hudson's Adventure Island Review

Hudson’s Adventure Island was incredibly popular when it came out. They even made sequels to this one that most people are not aware of because they were so much more rare than the original. It is quite easy to see why they decided to make more games based on this one.

It is incredibly easy to pick up the controller and start playing. It is a platformer like Super Mario Brothers and thus the controls are relatively simple. Adventure Island is the traditional jump and fire with a few twists based on the items you pick up. However, a huge portion of this game is trying to avoid things rather than fighting them like you might be used to with Mega Man.

Overall, this game is pretty fun. You are going to die…a lot. The very first few times you play this game you might feel that it is overly difficult. However, do not give up. Once you get the hang of it, you will find that it really meets that line of moderate difficulty. Again, you probably are not going to get to stage 8, but at least you will have a fairly good chance to get half way through the game once you get really good.

Playing this game as a kid seemed much more fun that playing it as an adult. That is the only downside to this game. So if you are one of the people who loved playing Adventure Island as a child, it is recommended that you do not pick this game up again unless you are showing your own children as there will be much disappointment. Leave your memories in the past.

Overall, this was a quality game for when it came out. Although it does not get the title of a “classic” it can still be considered a pretty good game.
