Gaming corporations spend millions upon millions of dollars on research into technologies that they believe will be the next step in the improvement of the consumers gaming experience. It simply isn’t enough to come out with a thinner, lighter and longer lasting battery version of the previous device. Nowadays developers not only have to incorporate better design and performance into their device, but also have to continue to improve and create technology which in effect keeps the customer coming back for more. So what is Nintendo doing to breathe new life into the portable gaming industry? What does the Dsi series have that doesn’t just make it better than the previous DS model, but draws people in with just a glance? Below are some of the new technologies that the Dsi series has to offer.
Dsi’s two digital cameras:
Whether it is a mobile phone, mp4, or other portable multimedia devices, the very first thing that most of us notice is the camera. With the new DSi there are two cameras. One is pointed outwards and the other is pointed inwards. There are 10 ‘image manipulators’ that allow you to alter your images, kind of like the software available in apple computers for the webcams. Nonetheless probably the most exciting and prospective part of this new set up is that it is allowing you to interact with your games like never before. This function is only really beginning, but will be exciting to see just where gaming developers can take this.
DSi Sound
It allows users to manipulate and change around songs on their playlist. Also has an interactive voice recorder and media player.
Dsi Ware
It enables users to download games and applications for the Dsi. What is good about this is that it also includes applications both small and large. It will be interesting to see what will happen in the next few years as more games and apps are added. In addition all Dsi systems will be compatible with the previous DS games, however not GBA (Game Boy Advanced) games.
I firmly believe that the Nintendo Dsi series offers a great gaming experience for some tremendous value. If you love gaming on the go, then don’t say no!
