Xbox E74 RROD Help – 3 Essential Tips That Work!

You might be wondering if it is actually possible to fix that Xbox 360 that started to slack on you. Even if you recently bought the console you might have encountered certain issues like the common RROD (Red Ring of Death) and the E74 error message.

The truth of the matter is, I personally had friends who all encountered this exact same problem. And I have seen a lot of them make the same mistake. Here are some tips for you to consider when fixing Xbox 360 console.

1. Try to avoid the “towel trick” that many are literally doing now and days. The reason I say this is because you want your console to be in a good form in the future. You’re actually making the console in worst matters by doing this.

For those who might now know what the towel trick is. Here it goes: You basically take 2-3 towels, not wet just regular towels. You leave your Xbox on and connected with all the cables. Wrap your Xbox 360 with the towels and leave the console wrapped and on for 30 min.

Do I recommend this? – Nope. Why? Because this will actually be a temporary fix. Yea “temporary” and you do not want that right? The reason I also say no is because you are actually making the “inside” of your console worse and worse by doing this method. The liquid inside the Xbox will start to melt and eventually it will block certain areas that are important for the Xbox to read and access certain data for it to work.

2. Get the cables and everything that you may have connected to your Xbox console and disconnect them. Take out the HDD (Hard Drive) as well. Just leave the Xbox 360 in its place to cool down for an hour or so.

Do I recommend this? – Of course! Why? Because this worked for me when I had the Red Rings of Death. I personally work at a retail store and I met a 27 year old guy who mentioned his problem with his Xbox (Red Ring of Death).

What was the result and how he solved it? Yea, he used the method of disconnecting everything. The power cable the A/V cable and even the HDD.

3. I almost lol when I heard this “technique” that many are using. I personally will not recommend this because it will only get your house on fire and potentially be risking a lot of lives. Many individuals who suffered from the E74 Red Rings of Death were actually trying this!

They would literally be playing the Xbox 360 console system while it was wrapped with 3 towels. The WHOLE day. What the heck? This is very dangerous and it is not recommended. Why would they do this? After doing the “towel trick” they would leave the towels so it can potentially avoid future problems with the console.
