Why is the Ps3 Download Speed So Painfully Slow?

I downloaded the game Planet Minigolf from the PlayStation Store and it took from 10AM to 8PM. This just got me fed up; I've had to go through this slow process even with demos, they take forever! Why is downloading things so slow?

Check the connection speed and signal strength of the network.
