How Do I Fix My Ps3's Blinking Red Light Problem?

Don't tell me to buy the "guide" to fix it. i was playing a game online then the ps3 turned off and the red light started flashing. i would like to fix it without having to send it to a repair shop.

Suggestion:

You're screwed man. Same thing happened to me, and the only thing you can do is call sony and have them send you a prepaid shipping box and repair form. Send it back to them and fork over $150 for a refurbished one. Be sure to write on the form what game is trapped inside so they send it back. I looked at the guides online for possible fixes and decided it was just too much trouble to do something that probably wouldn't work anyway. Sony sent me a new one and returned my game. It's expensive, and it sucks, but that's Sony for you.

Also, all your save data will be gone, so next time back it up to usb or memory stick. Sorry.

Some people speculate it happens because of overheating, so be sure there's plenty of air flow around the ps3 next time. Mine was inside of an entertainment center cabinet, so maybe. Now I removed the doors so air can get to it and it's been okay so far.

This is caused by when the unit overheats causing solder on the board to melt and bridge (connect). Once this happens it shorts out the board giving you the error you have now. Check with Sony and see if the unit is still under warranty.

If the unit is not under warranty go to http://www.wiredextreme.com. We are a console repair company based in Texas, and we can get your console up and running again. All our repairs come with a 90 day warranty that covers the whole console not just what we repaired. We also offer extended warranties up to 4 years at additional cost. The cost of repair is $80 INCLUDING shipping. If you have any other questions/concerns feel free to email support@wiredextreme.com or call toll free 1-888-389-3038.

well chances are you might have gotten the YLOD (just got the YLOD this morning on one of my PS3s myself) so you would have to call SONY to get it fixed at the $150 price if that's the case
