Faces: Highly personal tirade in regards to numerous infidelities is one of the few Cassel films to make it with basic civic. Here’s a commanding film with awesome action, particularly by Carlin and Cassel. Cast includes John Marley, Gena Rowlands, Lynn Carlin, Seymour Cassel, Fred Draper, and Val Avery. (130 minutes, 1968)
His Kind of Woman: Mitchum blindly goes to Mexico for a payoff of 50 grand, finds he’s the eventually-to-be-lifeless chump whose identity can help deported gangster Burr re-enter the nation. Cult film is overlong, although its spoofing of he-gentleman heroics predates the more rejoiced BEAT THE DEVIL by 3 years; Cost is humorous as a ham performer. Cast includes Robert Mitchum, Jane Russell, Vincent Cost, Tim Holt,Raymond Burr, Charles McGraw, and Jim Backus. (120 minutes, 1951)
Wayne’s World: Wayne and Garth have their own TV show on public access television. Their show is spotted by TV exec Ben Oliver, and Wayne a d Garth are moving up. Wayne now ifs falling in love, and they abandon the show to he his new love in her career as a rock star.
The Last Of The Mohicans: A love story set in the war torn Northeastern U.S. between the English and the French, with different American Indians on either side. Hawkeye a frontiersman adopted by the Mohican Indian named Chingach Gook falls in love with the daughter of an English officer. Can Hawkeye and Cora’s love survive through the battles that surround them?
Deep Space: An extraterrestrial-like being runs amok. Here is an ltra hokey sci-fi thriller with joke overtones. Napier is impeccably cast as a cop on its track. This is excellent fun for genre fans. Incidentally, the title has nothing to do with the film! Cast includes Charles Napier, Ann Turkel, Julie Newmar, James Booth, Ron Glass, Anthony Eisley, Bo Svenson, and Peter Palmer. (90 minutes, 1987)
Pearl Harbor: This epic movie looks at the devastation of that eventful day, December 7, 1941 when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. This story follows the incredible courage of a nurse and two daring pilots, who bravely move forward, all the time trying to deal with the overwhelming catastrophe before them.
Against All Odds: Unemployed jock acknowledges a job from a sleazy ex-teammate to find his lady friend, who’s escaped to Mexico. Excellent stab at film noir sensation, however script is structure-bulky and unsatisfying. Cast includes Rachel Ward, Jeff Bridges, James Woods, Alex Karras, Jane Greer, Pat Corley, and Bill McKinney. (78 minutes, 1968)
Born American: The Cold War lives on as 3 youthful Americans vacationing in Finland inadvertently cross the boundary into Russia. Once there they battle it out with the local troops. Alright action scenes and personable youthful cast sugarcoat the bulky-handed partisan overtones. Cast includes Mike Norris, Steve Durham, David Coburn, Thalmus Rasulala, and Albert Salmi. (109 minutes, 1986)
Star Wars: The Clone Wars: The Clone Wars rage on all throughout the galaxy. The Jedi-Knights are doing all they can to keep things under control. The dark side is gaining in power. Anakin Skywalker is on a mission that will have huge ramifications if successful. Meanwhile, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Master Yoda are leading a huge clone army, hoping to stop the dark side from advancing.
