The Fog: A thick haze from the Pacific hangs over a Northwest seaside village, bringing with it murderous and vengeful ghosts. Lame redo of John Carpenter’s 1980 film modifies the structure but does not improve on the first edition. Down to You: Prinze and Stiles futilely try to buddy us up by talking straight away into the camcorder, clarifying how their once idyllic college romance went bust (albeit not as bust as the film). In someway, this film manages to find room for subplots in reference to a Television show and a friend who has a try as an adult-film entrepreneur with a sort of bohemian knowledgeable porn actress. Deep Red: There’s style to burn in pointless terror thriller with Hemmings on the trail of a sadistic psycho murderer. Showy, weird scenes set to beating rock soundtrack. Cast includes David Hemmings, Daria Nicolodi, Gabriele Lavia, Macha Meril, and Glauco Mauri. (98 minutes, 1975)
MacArthur: Intense, look at the legend of the elaborate military chief throughout WW2 and Korean Battle. Peck is phenomenal although film doesn’t hold the punch of Patton. Cast includes Gregory Peck, Dan O’Herlihy, Ed Flanders, Sandy Kenyon, Dick O’Neill, and Craft Fleming. (130 minutes, 1977)
Daniel Boone: Alright action venture detailing a chapter in the life of the legendary pioneer and his leading of some settlers west from North Carolina into Kentucky. O’Brien is well cast in the title role Cast includes George O’Brien, Heather Angel, John Carradine, Ralph Forbes, and Clarence Muse. (75 minutes, 1936)
The Age of Innocence: In 1870s NY, well-bred youthful guy (DayLewis), who plans to wed well bred youthful female (Ryder), is infatuated by infamous beauty (Pfeiffer) with a notorious background and a self sufficient soul. Sumptuous adaptation of Edith Wharton’s Pulitzer Prize novel in reference to censored sentiments in a close minded world. Cast includes Daniel DayLewis, Michelle Pfeiffer, Winona Ryder, Richard E. Grant, Alec McCowen, Geraldine Chaplin, Mary Beth Hurt, Miriam Margolyes, Sian Phillips,’ Michael Gough, Alexis Smith, Norman Lloyd, Jonathan Pryce, Robert Sean Leonard, and Carolyn Farina depicted by Joanne Woodward. (133 minutes, 1993)
Man of Iron: Somber account of Germi, a railroad architect, whose life takes a catastrophic turn, influencing his entire family. Cast includes Pietro Germi, Luisa Della Noce, Sylva Kascina, and Carla Giuffre. (116 minutes, 1956)
The Last Temptation of Christ: Imaginative and enticing from Nikos Kazantzakis’ novel which presumes in regards to Jesus’ self-questions while he grasps he has been selected by The lord to tote His message. Minutes of incredible beauty are reduced somehow by mundane discussion and dull extends. Cast includes Willem Dafoe, Harvey Keitel, Barbara Hershey, Harry Dean Stanton, David Bowie, Vema Bloom, Andre Gregory, Juliette Caton, Roberts Blossom, Irvin Kershner, Nehemiah Persoff, and Barry Miller. Hoppity Goes to Town: Delightful excited characteristic in regards to occupants of worm-ville and their assorted complications living in a human world, and bullied by villainous C. Bagley Beetle. Excellent-looking however uncompelling tale. (77 minutes, 1941)
