Until recently, if you wanted to watch a movie, a trip to a video store like blockbuster was your only option. The next generation it seems will be getting their movies from movie downloads, avoiding any trips to the store. Just about any movie every made can be attained through a movie download site now. Wedding Crashers: John and Jeremy have found out a great way to pick up women, by crashing weddings. John breaks wedding crasher rules, and falls in love with Claire. This severe change will test the strength of John and Jeremy’s longtime friendship.
Nightmare on Elm Street Four: Refreshed by flaming mutt urine, Freddy Krueger ultimately kills all the kids of those who initially burned him to death, and looks for new teenagers to terrorize, although he’s challenged by a “fantasy master,” his metaphysical counterpart. Series was showing its age by this point. Cast includes Renny Harlin, Robert Englund, Rodney Eastman, Danny Hassel, Andras Jones, Tuesday Horseman, Toy Newkirk, Ken Sagoes, Brooke Theiss, and Lisa Wilcox. (92 minutes, 1988)
Heartbreaker: Chicano Allende falls for WASP Dunlap among an ambience of custom-fitted cars. Dull self sufficient production is displeasingly devoid of observations into the lifestyle it portrays. Look quick for Patty “Apollonia” Kotero. Cast includes Daybreak Dunlap, Peter Gonzales Falcon, Michael D. Roberts, Miguel Ferrer, Pepe Serna, and Rafael Campos. (90 minutes, 1983)
Adios Amigo: Eccentric western comedy, written, produced, and directed by Williamson, who plays a patsy to con guy Pryor. There is no sex or brutality in this harmless film, but it just doesn’t quite work. Cast includes Fred Williamson, Richard Pryor, Thalmus Rasulala, James Brown, and Robert Phillips. Directed by Fred Williams (1975-Comedy 87 minutes rated PG)
Strange Illusion: Enthralling however unconvincing melodrama, a B-film update of Hamlet, with teenaged Lydon having questions in regards to slick talker William who’s wooing his widowed mom Eilers. Normally weird William feels in this low-spending limit quickie. Cast includes James Lydon, Sally Eilers, Warren William, and Regis Toomey. (80 minutes, 1945)
A la Mode: This is a lighthearted French comedy of a young orphan who becomes apprentice to a village tailor, who proceeds to make it in the fashion scenc of the ’60s. If the remainder of the film were as clever as the clothes there may be more than suggested. Cast includes Remy Duchemin, Ken Higelin, Jean Yanne, Francois Hautesserre, and Florence Challenge. (82 minutes, 1994)
Alaska: Adolescent venture on a grand scale, as a brother and sister take off looking for their dad and his downed plane. Structured like an old B movie melodrama, however implemented with conviction contrary to magnificent, snowy landscape and characterizing an irresistible polar bear who befriends the youngsters. Heston, whose child prompted the drama, plays a mean, cunning old man. Cast includes Thora Birch, Vincent Kartheiser, Dirk Benedict, Charlton Heston, Duncan Fraser, and Gordon Tootoosis. (110 minutes, 1996)
Pretty Woman: A chance meeting of a street hooker and a ruthless and very wealthy businessman leads to a unique proposition. He hires her for the week, to attend some functions with him as an escort. He has no idea what he has gotten himself into.
Stallion Road: Devoted veterinarian Reagan and novelist buddy Scott vie for the benevolence of horse rancher Smith; low-key drama written by Stephen Longstreet. Cast includes Ronald Reagan, Alexis Smith, Zachary Scott, Peggy Knudsen, Patti Brady, and Harry Davenport. (91 minutes, 1947)
