Ju-on The Grudge: Ghosts of a violently killed mom and her child vengefully terrorize and murder a succession of individuals who have a connection with the humble Tokyo home where the murders took place. Not a tale as such, although a succession of eerie scenes, some peacefully scary, others outright horrifying. Siddhartha: Choppy rendition of Hermann Hesse novel follows Indian as he leaves hifamily to find more stimulating life. This film is too artsy, although on-location photography by Sven Nykvist is often illuminating. Cast includes Shashi Kapoor, Simi Garewal, Romesh Shama, Pinchoo Kapoor, Zul Vellani, and Amrik Singh. In for Treatment: Easy, pointed, commanding tale of a middle-aged mam who checks into a clinic for an examination although is seriously dying of cancer. He must handle a remote, maddeningly impersonal health center system. Hard to watch due to the subject, however still poignant and by no means maudlin. The Reckless Moment: Mason blackmails protective mom Bennett, whose adolescent baby girl has been engaged in a guy’s mortality.
