You have to understand there are three races, these three races were the ferocious Zerg, the powerful Protoss, and the resourceful Terran.
The Zerg are numerous in amount, swarming into battle with extreme numbers. There attacks are organic, but powerful, spikes launched at high powered speeds, acid hurled into enemies faces, and flying monsters are only some of the Zerg’s powerful resources.
The Protoss are sole, powerful units. They warp into battle with blasts of light and electricity, all the while shielding themselves from oncomming damage. The Protoss Mothership cloaking all its surrounding units, and warping the enemies units out of reality temporarily with its dark hole attack.
Ahh the Terran, all the most resourceful of the two races. A mix of both types, the possibilities are endless. Able to seal off openings, the terran base is usually not worth attacking, at least not from the front. With powerful mechanical units, large explosions, cloaked units, the ability to see there opponent with a scanner sweep, and flame throwers, you never know what to expect with this army.
Those are the three races, but I have barely touched the surface of what they are truly capable of.
So, you’ve decided to start a game, let me try and walk you through what a round of starcraft 2 is like.
Minerals are the currency of starcraft 2. There are two types, and they are both collected differently. Crystals are the more used form of the two, and you start with eight crystal minesby your base. Vespene gas is the less used, but no less important, other form of currency. Vespene gas is collected from either of the two vespene geyser mines by your base. When you run out of these, or earlier if you choose, you can build by one of the many other mineral and geyser spots in the map. These are typically called “expansions” – of your main base.
You begin with a main building, I’ll use Protoss as our example race, so we’ll call this a Nexus. Now, your nexus has three functions. One, it often serves as a spot where minerals can be dropped off. Two, it can produce workers, that will mine these minerals. Three, it has the “chrono boost ability” which is a Protoss only ability! It allows for any single Protoss building to work much faster! This ability is on charge, so as long as the Nexus is alive, you’ll be able to cast this ability when it is charged.
