Dante’s Peak: Formulaic yet amusing catastrophe film where we see a scientist from the U.S. Geological Study who hangs around a mountainside town in Washington just beside a volcano that he feels is going to blow at some second. Cast includes Pierce Brosnan, Linda Hamilton, Jamie Renee Smith, Jeremy Foley, Elizabeth Hoffman, and Charles Hallahan. (108 minutes, 1997)
Above the Law: This is Steven Segal’s breakout movie. He plays a Chicago Police man who takes matters into his own hands. As the title implies, he is ‘above the law’. He uses his large body and martial arts skills to wreak havoc on the bad guys. Stars include Steven Segal, Pam Grier, and Sharon Stone. (1988 Action)
J.F.K.: This film takes a look back at the investigation after the assassination of President Kennedy. This movie delves into some of the details surrounding the assassination that have fueled many conspiracy theories. The speculations brought forth here are that Kennedy was ‘removed’ so that Johnson could take over and he would proceed aggressively into the Vietnam War, which J.F.K. was not doing.
Prince Jack: Yet a new journal of life amid the Kennedy’s, here concentrating mostly on the gentlemen and their identities. The movie is shallow at best. Cast includes James F. Kelly, Kenneth Harms, Lloyd Nolan, Cameron Mitchell, Robert Guillaume, Theodore Bikel, Jim Backus, and Dana Andrews. (100 minutes, 1984)
Mrs. Doubtfire: Warm-gratifying comedy with earnest overtones in reference to a free soul whose spouse divorces him after fourteen years. He couldn’t bear being split apart from his 3 babies, so he camouflages himself as a dowdy British housekeeper (under an Oscar quality makeup job) and gets himself employed to look after them. Williams is in top form, and director Columbus keeps tale and characters moderately practical in an effort to drive home a humanistic message. Cast includes Robin Williams, Sally Territory, Pierce Brosnan, Harvey Fierstein, Polly Holliday, Lisa Jakob, Matthew Lawrence, and Mara Wilson. (125 minutes, 1993)
Stage Fright: Theater student Wyman turns covert sleuth while an actress’ spouse is killed. There are some stimulating scenes however the Mr. Hitchcock misses on this one. Cast includes Marlene Dietrich, Jane Wyman, Richard Todd, Kay Walsh, Aastair Sim, Joyce Grenfell, Sybil Thorndike, and Patricia Hitchcock. (110 minutes, 1950)

Internal Affairs: Young cop Raymond Avila works in the Internal Affairs Department of the LAPD. He hand his partner see something suspicious with Dennis Peck. His financial situation is much stronger than expected on a policeman’s salary. Once Peck is aware of the investigation, he turns his attention away from his corrupt dealings to focus on Avila.
