Usually, it takes about 30 minutes to an hour to get to this point, and is likely just a way for Playfish to keep people from farming accounts for extra associates. Once you get to the point where you can add new associates, you’ll want to start adding them as quickly as possible to boost your potential income levels.
First off, add any friends you already have on Facebook. These are the fastest sources of associates and even if most of your friends don’t play these games, many times they’ll at least sign on to help you out. After that, you can start scouring forums and adding new friends that can become associates just for the game. Be sure to carefully add people though, lest you cause Facebook to tag your account as spamming.

Now that you have more associates, it’s time to start benefiting from them. First off, you’ll have more influence and power in the game. This will result in you being a better robber and succeeding more often. This will help you earn cash faster and play the game much more efficiently.
Next up, you can visit your associates and their own Gangs. It doesn’t matter if they are family members or associates – you will get a small bonus for visiting them when you logon each day. You can also get collection pieces every time you visit a friend. If you get enough friends on board, this becomes the fastest way to effectively fill out your collections and level up faster.
There are a number of other benefits of growing your associates and creating a strong, well run family in Gangster City. Once you get to that point, with multiple family members, you’ll find that you can move up in the game much faster.
