If you’re looking into leveling a Shaman, you’re going to want to know what they’re all about so there are no surprises down the road. William Shatner put it best when he said the Shaman is a “conduit for the ancient forces of nature.
So what this means is you’re going to be using a lot of earth type spells to attack your enemies with. In the process of leveling a Shaman, you will be able to use elemental talents, enhancement talents or restoration talents. Elemental leads to you doing mostly ranged attacks, enhancement leads to melee while restoration leads to just some good staying power.
One of the most important abilities of the Shaman is to summon totems that can buff you and your party, cast various status effects on the enemies or deal damage. The totem’s effect can also fall within the wind, fire, earth or air element.
Some of the other benefits of the Shaman include their ability to wear mail armor, their versatility to either play as a melee, ranged or healer class as well as the powerful buffs they have access to.
There are weaknesses to the Shaman though as there are with every class. One of the weaknesses is the fact that totems can be easily destroyed. Another is that Shamans can’t use any ranged weapons and finally, the Shaman tends to be well rounded but far from an expert in any one thing.
I think Shamans though are a lot of fun to play as. Now they may have been nerfed in many of the recent patches and they may be a bit weak in player vs player, however they are a lot of fun to play as and worth taking the time to level.
So now that you have an idea of what to expect, you may want to find out a bit more about leveling a Shaman, it’s therefore a good idea to have a look into a detailed guide that will cover levels 1 through 80.
