Do You Think Getting Caught a Second Time Cheating on the Ps3 Deserves a Permanent Ban?

Potentially great news for gamers that can't stand cheaters. BobbyChicago and BORN-2-BACKUP were just two of many names mentioned in a recent conversation between Sony and Rockstar Games regarding Multiplayer cheating. Part of what is being discussed is the possibility of their consoles being temporarily suspended from the Playstation Network. This would be a stern warning that neither company will tolerate cheating. If they are caught a second time it will result in a permanent username and console ban. The username ban would include all usernames associated with the console. That's a hefty price to pay but I am all for it. I suppose they could always purchase a new PS3 console, but who wants to do that.  BobbyChicago and BORN-2-BACKUP are just two of the many cheaters that are destroying multiplayer games and it's about time Sony and Rockstar do something about it. Hopefully other game developers will get involved as well.

Suggestion:

THe only way its possible to cheat at these games now (especially on multiplayer) is by hacking, which is against the t&c and already results in a ban.
I think its logical that a person who gets banned a second time gets a permanent ban. If they don't learn from their mistake4s, they suffer for it.

Sony does not ban all users on a console. All they would do is ban a specific PSN account. If Sony was able to determine (very hard) that every single account on a PS3 was being used maliciously then block all traffic coming from a certain IP address. Sony wouldn't just block the IP address usually because they could not tell if the PS3 was being used in an orphanage or college dorm or some other place where there are multiple users.
But basically this sounds like a weak attempt to scare someone that you thought was cheating but was probably just better at you in a particular game or was maybe exploiting a glitch in the game; in this case the game developer's moderators would be the only ones to do anything about it and they couldn't ban the person from the PSN, only from the game in question, and only on the specific PSN account that was being used at the time of the exploit.

The problem there is that someone could hack they're account and f*ck them over.

No, after they jeopardized everyone's information no one deserves to be banned.
