Is Settling for Cubic Zirconia Engagement Ring a Mistake?

well my boyfriend and I have been living together for 3 years now and I have decided to pop the question on a very tight budget I bought him the titanium ring that he has been lusting over since I first met him and now all thats left is getting my ring. I've never been one to spend money on anything really( I work at a non profit don't make much almost every item in my life is used and boughten for dirt cheap) and bought myself a cz engagement set and now all I can think about about is did I let my self down by not getting a dimiond? When I propose to him he will get a brand new playstation 3 the new batman game and his ring…I will get my cz set…I love him more than the world but I feel Like I cheated my self but at the same time I would really hate to spend all that money on a stupid rock.

Suggestion:

I'm not a fan of huge flashy diamonds either, I just don't see the point in spending money (that could be used towards the wedding, a house or a trip) on a rock just to flash your finger around. I told my fiance flat out that I didn't want a huge ring so we went to look at rings together. We found the PERFECT (for me anyways) set at Sears. It was around v-day so they had really good sales. My ring (engagement ring and wedding band set) was $549 and we got it on sale for $149. It's not a huge diamond but the cut and clarity is amazing. So maybe you two could go buy a ring for yourself together..take the one you bought back put that money towards a diamond. If you look for the sales around xmas or vday you can find really good discounts. Good Luck!

EDIT: There are a lot of answers that make it sound bad that you bought him a game system and games. Don't let them make you feel bad about this. When men propose they go and take you out to eat somewhere fancy and buy roses or take you on a trip for a surprise and thats ok. But it's not ok for you to surprise him with something? We don't know your relationship maybe he doesn't like to dress up and go out somewhere fancy. I'm sorry I just had to add that in girls who act like that p*ss me off.
