Suggestion:
either your connection is messed up, or they are performing scheduled maintenance. all big online services have to do this occasionally, and you can't connect while it's undergoing maintenance. wait a while (like a couple hours) and try again. they probably had some notification earlier in the week letting users know that it would be going under maintenance. you could probably look it up on the internet too.
