Can You Play Ps2 Games on a Ps3?

My little brother wants a Play Station 3, but he doesnt know if he can play Play Station 2 games on a Play Station 3? Any Help?

Suggestion:

the only ps3 that plays ps2 games the the 80 gigabyte fat one but youll run out of storage space soon so just keep your ps2 and get a good slim ps3 its awesome

Depends on which PS3 you get. If you get a brand new one, no. If you get a used one, get an 80 gig one.

You should get a PS3, but you shouldn't get rid of the PS2. It's not worth it, considering how many good games that are on the PS2 that really haven't aged much.

only the 80bg one does,all others will not.but they play ps1 games.tell me how that works

i think only the first ps3 models on the newer ones no you cant
