My Ps3 Will Load Dvds, but Not Games… What Could Be Wrong?

I just got a PS3 today. Its used. And extremely old. Its one of the originals. [20GB, no wireless, that kind of ****.]
Well, I updated everything completely, and everything else works, but games won't load… I tested it out with a game I borrowed first but I figured it didn't work because the game had **** all over it. So I tested a DVD, and it worked just fine.
Later on, I borrowed a different game to see if it would load, and still nothing. [These games work on another PS3.]

…Help? =[

Suggestion:

One of the most common problems with the PS3 is that dust gets inside, and gums up the blu-ray drive mechanism.

Since this PS3 is old it's no longer under warranty, so having Sony fix it will cost you almost as much to buy a new one.

That said, your PS3 is one of the few out there that can also play PS2 games, so it may be worth your while to fix it yourself – or at least sell it to someone who can fix it.

You can attempt to clean the PS3's drive by opening the PS3 and using a q-tip to clean around the lens. However this fix is only temporary. Eventually the problem will come back, and the drive will stop working altogether.

You can also purchase a new drive for the PS3 and install it yourself.

Instructions for both procedures are all over the internet. Just be careful.
