Ps3 Technical Help, Please.?

Ok so yesterday I got bored and wanted to play one of my old PS2 games. So I put it in my PS3 and it said it was 'unsupported data' so I tried another game to be sure, and it also said 'unsupported data'. I started looking through my PS3 settings hoping to find something that would let me play PS2 games on my PS3, I didn't find anything like that, but I did find an area where I could make an internal PS2 memery card. I made one and tried the game again and it still didn't work.

I know that certain PS3 modals don't take PS2 games but it seems odd to me that there would be an area to make a PS2 mermory card in my PS3, if it wont take PS2 games. So is there a certain setting I have to change or something I have to buy to make it compatible. I just don't want to have to buy another PS3 or have to take out and hook up my PS2 to play one game for an hour or so.

Thanks.

Suggestion:

Only the oldest PS3's (the "real" ones), 20/60gb (and earliest revision 80gb which can partially software emulate some ps2 games) can play PS2 disks.

It's not a feature available on the gimped new versions.

I have a 60Gb model and this is the only one that allows PS2 games to be played not that i ever play PS2's on it. If you don't have 60gb then it won't work.
