Can I Mod My Ps3 to Play Ps2 Games?

also how much would a ps2 cost cause i used to have a ps2 but it stopped working and i sold it for parts and i got a ps3 but i have a bunch of ps2 games i wanna play is there a safe way to mod my 120 gb ps3 to play ps2 games its a 2nd gen ps3 made in sept 2007

Suggestion:

Currently there is not a mod to force a PS3 that is not backwards capable to play PS2 games. The last time I looked a PS2 was about $99 new a Wal-Mart, but I am sure you can find something cheaper. Check out Ebay or Craigslist.
