Suggestion:
PS3s with 4 USB ports standard play PS2 games. PS3s with 2 USB ports standard don't play PS2 games.
USB ports have nothing to do with PS2 compatibility, that is just the easiest way to know if the PS3 is backward compatible. Adding USB ports will not allow your PS3 to play PS2 games.
