I am also asking this for my cousins who have a ps3 and are continually unplugging it and plugging in their ps2 and vise-versa because they don't know and don't want to try and break something
Suggestion:
There are many versions of PS3s. If the PS3 you own has 4 USB ports on the front, it will play PS1, PS2 and PS3 games. If it only has 2 USB ports on the front, it will play PS1 and PS3 games, but not PS2.
