Can the Ps3 120gb Play Ps2 Games or Not.?

Can the new ps3 (playstation 3) 120GB play a ps2 (playstation 2) game or do you have to program some kind of thing to make it play a ps2 game. Because I want to get one(ps3) but I also want my ps2 games to work on my new playstation 3 (if I get one). Please HELP. THANK YOU.

Suggestion:

you can't play ps2 games on the slim. they removed that feature long time ago. the only ones that are backward compatible with ps2 games are the 40gb and 60gb. i think. and those are obsolete.

and no you can't hack ps3 system.
