Can You Check the Contents of a Ps2 Memory Card on a Ps3?

I have the newer PS3 that you can't play PS2 or 1 games on. I let a friend borrow my PS2 memory card so he could play a game. I'm worried he deleted all of my files instead of just a few to play his game, and I had a lot of gameplay on it. Thing is, my PS2 broke a month ago and I haven't had 30 or 40 dollars lying around to buy a new one. So I want to make sure my card has its memories when I get it back today, could a PS3 let me check?

Since the newer PS3 slim don't have a memory card slot the only way you can check is to buy a memory card adapter and or a new ps2.
