No. The only models that were PS2 backwards compatible were actually the 20, 40 and 60Gb Fat PS3 models. The 80Gb is not backwards compatible, the other guy had it mixed up, but he was definitely on the right track. It's actually the 60Gb. But PS2 games are meant for PS2's and PS3 games are meant for PS3's. Don't just want a PS3 simply for that reason. Its not a good one. The PS3 can do WAY more than just that. The SLim models are better in terms of overall performance compared to the Fat PS3's. Slims are 33% smaller, lighter, quieter and more efficient (efficient in terms of you'll save money on power bills compared to the Fat PS3s). You can get a lot of PS2 games from the Playstation Store anyway. Even if you don't have the backwards compatibility because they reformatted it for the PS3.

No it does not. It will not play at all it just not play. It might even get jammed!
No ! Only the 2006 20GB and 60GB launch models and a 2007 80GB model will play PS2 games !
