Downgrading Ps3 System?

Bought a used PS3 from a friend, had some games inside. I bought some new games but needed to upgrade the firmware from 3.55 to 3.75… My friend said if I upgrade it then I wouldn't be able to use the multiman thus making me unable to play the games inside the harddrive… I was wondering if I upgrade to 375, can I downgrade back to 3.55 safely without any soldering or something like that? since it was 3.55 when I got it….

and can ver 3.75 play PS2 games? thanks

the current official one is version 3.73 not 3,75
