Answer:
They are no current PS3 models being sold that will play PS2 games ! Sony stopped producing Backwards Compatible PS3's after 2007 !
The only models that'll play PS2 games are: 20GB and 60GB 2006 launch models and later in 2007 an 80GB model that came bundled with 2 games, "Motorstorm" and later "Metal Gear Solid 4" !
NO OTHER PS3 MODELS WILL PLAY PS2 GAMES !
YOU MAY FIND A USED BC PS3 MODEL AT PLACES LIKE EBAY OR CRAIGSLIST !

for the most part – the ORIGINAL ps3 consoles sold (20gb and 60gb) r the only ones that work for most things ps2. As of now (the 2nd gen 40/80gb and now i guess the 3rd gen 120/250 GB harddrive versions) dont do anything ps2 wise because SONY basically said – once u play a ps3 game (particularly in 1080p HP surround etc) you wont want to play a ps2 game again
